About Cole Murphy Harris
For Cole Murphy Harris, music has always played a vital and impactful role in his life. Growing up, he would watch his father play the guitar from time to time, and the two would often listen to music together.
However, it was not until Cole reached the second grade that he felt the desire to immerse himself in music and learn the craft firsthand. Inspired by the song “Money for Nothing” by Dire Straits, Cole would play the air-guitar and air-drums with his siblings, though he did not take the art seriously at the time. As he got older, Cole began to play around with the family’s piano, playing songs by ear and even writing a few of his own. By the time Cole Murphy Harris started the sixth grade, his parents started taking him to private guitar lessons, which he would continue through his high school years. In the years since, he has also learned how to play the bass, drums, mandolin, and saxophone. He also enjoys singing and experimenting with his vocals.
Cole has typically viewed the art as a form of self-expression and self-entertainment rather than a means of achieving success. After all, you do not need to be a household name to play a musical instrument or bring others together through your craft. Therefore, Cole Murphy Harris values the power of playing music with friends and family, and using the art as a means of meeting others. In Cole’s words, “When I play with other people, we don’t even have to speak the same language. I remember staying in a hostel in Hungary and meeting a man from Pakistan. We didn’t understand a word the other said, but we didn’t have to, because there were two guitars in the room so we just started playing.”
However, recently Cole has taken a more serious approach to music and is actively searching for performance opportunities. While he doesn’t expect to achieve fame through music, it certainly excites him that nothing is out of the realm of possibility.
Outside of his passion for music, Cole Murphy Harris is a well-known and trusted accountant who serves the people of Knoxville, Tennessee. Similar to his love for music, Cole’s desire to work in the realm of accounting was inspired by his father. At the time, his father owned his own restaurant franchise, and Cole knew that if he put in the work, his father would bring him on board upon graduation.
As such, Cole took what he calls the traditional path, acquiring his Bachelor’s in accounting and Master’s in taxation. From there, he served at a local CPA firm in Knoxville for just over a year before becoming an official member of his father’s team. Now, years later, Cole is still working diligently at Harris Restaurant Group.
On this website, Cole Murphy Harris will discuss his love for music, regardless of style, genre, or age. To learn more, be sure to visit his blog page frequently.
